FAQ
-
What is a Direct Primary Care clinic?A Direct Primary Care (DPC) clinic is a model in which the patient (member) pays a monthly fee directly to the physician for all or most of the services provided instead of using health insurance. Insurance is a complicated business model that looks to pay doctors, hospitals, pharmacies, and laboratories as little as possible for services. For patients, this results in shorter appointments, longer wait-times, and overall lower standard of care. Services and monthly fees vary from clinic to clinic. Be sure to review our Services & Cost for My Aloha Nui Membership here.
-
What are the benefits of being part of a Direct Primary Care clinic? We work for you and not your health insurance company. DPCs provide patients with a greater degree of access and time with the physician. With less restrictions and limitations we are able to provide healthcare that fits your needs.
-
What is the cost of membership?Membership fee is based on age and automatically billed monthly to a credit card. ADULTS (25 - 64 yr old) = $200 / mo SENIORS (65+) = $150 / mo YOUNG ADULTS (18 - 24) = $125 / mo CHILDREN (17 & under) = $60 / mo
-
What forms of payment are accepted?Monthly membership fees are automatically charged to a debit or credit card. We accept all major credit cards.
-
What if I decide I want to end my membership? You are in control! You may cancel your membership with Aloha Nui at any given time, no strings attached. We do not "lock" you into any term period. All we ask is that you inform us, prior to the next month, of your decision to end membership. We will have you sign a Termination Notice and facilitate the transfer of your records to a new physician.
-
Are there services that DO NOT require a membership?Yes! We offer several services that can be purchased individually: Medical Cannabis Certification - $170 Employment / School / Executive Physical - $165 Cosmetic Skin Care (ie. hair removal, wrinkle reduction, etc.) - SEE PRICE LIST HERE
-
Are you LGBTQ friendly?Absolutely! We reaffirm our commitment to take care of the health & wellness of all people regardless of disability, age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, religion, country of origin or immigration status.
-
Are you accepting new patients?Yes, we are currently accepting new patients. We enroll a small practice size of only 400 total clients to ensure that each person receives the highest level of attention, care and service. Whenever we are at capacity we maintain a wait list until membership drops below 400 clients. At which point, we will contact clients based on the order of which they inquired. You do not need to me a member for Skin Care Procedures or Medical Cannabis Certifications.
-
Do you accept health insurance? We do not accept any form of health insurance. As a Direct Primary Care clinic, we have discarded the "middle person" and contract directly with you as the client.
-
Do I need to keep my health insurance? It is not necessary, however, we strongly recommend that you have some form of coverage for potential cataustrophic events. Furthermore, although Aloha Nui does not accept health insurance, we can still put it to work for you. We can order laboratory tests or imaging studies (ie. xrays), prescribe medications, and if you have a PPO type insurance plan we can refer you to specialists (ie. cardiologist).
-
Can I get reimbursed for my membership fee from my insurance company?YES! PPO plans do allow you to file a claim to attempt reimbursement. Our staff will provide all the necessary paperwork so that you may submit it to your insurance company. However, reimbursement is not possible with medicare or medicaid (quest) insurance. It is also important to note that a claim can only be created for the months in which you were seen in the office and only for services that are a benefit of your specific insurance plan.

What should I do prior to treatment?Use sunscreen that's at least SPF 30 daily. Sunburned skin cannot be treated! Avoid any topical agents that might irritate your face for at least two (2) weeks prior to treatment. Do not use self-tanning agents for at least two (2) weeks prior to treatment. Please do not wear any makeup, perfume, or lotions in the treatment area prior to your treatment. Before each treatment, please inform us if you are taking any new antibiotics or medications, as they may make your skin sensitive to light treatments, and therefore, we may not be able to treat you for one (1) or two (2) weeks after completion of the antibiotic. For procedures other than hair removal, delicately shave the treatment area (1) day prior to your appointment to ensure direct contact with the skin. For hair removal: Do not shave, pluck or wax for at least one (1) month prior to your first treatment, and continuing through the course of your treatments. Shaving / Plucking / waxing removes the target hair. Do not bleach or use “Nair”- type products for two (2) weeks prior to treatment, as this can irritate the skin.
-
What should I do after treatment?Immediately after there may be redness and bumps at the treatment site that can last from a few hours up to a few days. It is normal for the treated area to feel like a sunburn for a few hours. You may use a cold compress, aloe vera gel, or 1% hydrocortisone if needed. It is important to continue using sun protectant with SPF 30+ daily for the entire treatment period. Even waterproof sun block is good for only 80 minutes, so reapply hourly. Do not pick or scratch at treatment site, as scabbing could lead to scarring. Makeup may be used after the treatment if there is no extended redness, blistering, or scabbing. Make sure that you have moisturizer on under your makeup; use it frequently on the treated area. Avoid sun exposure for four (4) to six (6) weeks after the treatment to avoid the appearance of dark and light spots. Do not use any other forms of hair removal methods (tweezing, waxing, depilatories) or products on the treated area during the course of the laser treatment, as it will prevent you from achieving your best results. You may delicately shave the area if needed.
